Years 9-11
At Long Field we are pleased to offer the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. We launch the Duke of Edinburgh programme to all students at the beginning of year 9. It is a non-competitive programme and anyone is able to sign up and join in. The award helps students develop their confidence, team work, resilience and independent working skills.
In order to complete their award students need to complete 3 sections (volunteering, physical and skills) and a 2 day/1 night expedition in local countryside. Students can either complete the sections using something they already do, or explore a new interest! The expedition is completed with an approved activity provider and students will get the chance to practise all the skills they need before they go.
If you would like any other information about how we deliver the award in school please email Miss Turner.
